“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,…”
I’m currently reading The
Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. It is one of the classics which has
been on my reading list for a while. All of my leisure reading of other works ultimately
helps me in my writing.
When I curl up in my chair to read, one of the things I’m noticing is the
very different writing style of the time. There are lots of descriptive words used throughout the text. It is Dickens style and was the way that things from that era were
written, but it can make for a bit of a project to sift through all of them to
get to the story line.
The story takes place during the French Revolution. It is
really neat to let a story take you back to that time and read about how
people lived. I'm about 120 pages in and very intrigued.
